Assalaam alaykum. In my local mosque, the official imam said to some elderly people that if he comes late and does not make it at the time when the Iqaamah should be done, we should wait five minutes for him (before proceeding to perform the prayer). The problem is that those elderly people (who also have some kind of authority in the mosque) do not.. More
Assalaamu alaykum. I have two queries:
1. My prayer gown has men's shirt-like sleeves with buttons to fasten at the wrist and a slight opening above the buttons. The sleeves fully cover my arms; however, during some positions of the prayer, like when I raise my arms, a bit of the skin of my forearms can be seen through that opening. Does this amount.. More
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh, Shaykhs. The Hanafis give the following hadiths as evidence regarding the Witr prayer and that one is to say the Takbeer (saying: Allahu Akbar) and raise his hands like one does when he starts a prayer and then recite the Qunoot supplication:
1) Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated in his Musannaf (no. 7021) from.. More
Assalaamu alaykum. I asked a question about the prayer some days ago and received this: https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/2671982
My question, however, was not really answered, as the response I got from you talks about the congregational prayer, and not one's individual prayer by themselves. So I will rephrase the question, as I think the first.. More
A woman who prays five times a day since many years once went to an Iftaar (breaking the fast) party at school. There were mostly girls there, but there were also some male professors. She was fully adorned with makeup. When her friend told her about the prayer, she felt that she could not perform ablution as she would have to wipe the makeup off, so.. More
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu, Shaykhs. If a person is combining the Maghrib and ‘Ishaa’ prayers at the time of the Maghrib, can that person pray the Sunnah of the ‘Ishaa’ prayerafter its time begins, or must it also be prayed at the Maghrib time itself and it can thus not be delayed? And, please, also give advice for someone.. More
Assalaamu alaykum. The day before yesterday, I asked a question (No. 2669912); it states that I read in Sifat As-Salat that our Prophet sometimes used to raise his hands while prostrating, but it was not described in that book how this is done, i.e. before going into prostration while saying "Allahu Akbar" or between the two prostrations. And it was.. More
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh, Shaykhs. I combine the prayer, and I was combining the Maghrib and the ‘Ishaa’ prayer at the time of the Maghrib during this Ramadan, and the time for the ‘Ishaa’ began, most probably. I say 'most probably', as here in Makkah, the azan is given later than at its due time, so I cannot be sure.. More
Assalaamu alaykum. I know that we are not allowed to join prayers without travelling unless there is a need and if it is not done as a habit. Even so, I have heard that we must do it in a congregation and in a mosque unless we are travelling. Otherwise, it is not allowed. The reason is that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, never joined prayers.. More
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh, Shaykhs.
I had a query regarding I‘tikaaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque)during the last ten days of Ramadan. Our imam gave us hadiths about I‘tikaaf during the Friday sermon, and I want to know whether they are Saheeh (authentic)? One is as follows:
"The Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi.. More
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. I was praying in the masjid behind the mam, and we were prostrating. There was a fly crawling on the floor. I got scared and lifted up my head, at the same instant, by coincidence, the imam said the Takbeer (saying: Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]). Is this ok, given that I did not raise my head.. Assalaamu alaykum. We have a hadith wherein Jibreel (Gabriel) instructed the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam,to pray the ‘Asr before the length of the shadow of an object becomes twice its height, but there is another hadith which states that the ‘Asr can be prayed as long as the sun does not turn yellow. So when does the time of necessity.. More
The other day, I was praying the Fajr in congregation, and while praying, I remembered that I had not prayed the Witr, so I broke off my prayer and prayed the Witr and then joined the congregation for the Fajr. Did I do anything wrong? Is there anything else I could have done? Could I have changed the intention during the prayer towards praying the.. More
Assalaamu alaykum, Brother. I really need your help. I suffer from urinary retention of the temporary type, meaning that after the call of nature, urine keeps coming out (in small amounts) for about one hour, and it then stops completely. Thus, according to the fatwa of the scholars, I have to refrain from praying during that period until the urine.. More
